Dragons Music Residency Program in Minnesota Schools

CI8F6194

In May 2012, the Year of the Dragon, 500 students from two Minnesota schools came together to sing the song cycle, The Dragons Are Singing Tonight. The concert was the culmination of a community outreach program designed by Laurie MacGregor and presented by TigerLion Arts in conjunction with its winter 2012 musical production at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, The Dragons Are Singing Tonight ~ the musical tale of a nasty dragon.

Minnesota Boychoir director Mark Johnson, Dragons flutist Julie Johnson, and Dragons composer/conductor Laurie MacGregor taught alongside music educators to prepare the kids for the performance. The twelve musicians in the theatrical production’s Dragons Band accompanied the young singers. Please click here for additional information.

This activity was made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the State’s arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
